What is EVISTA and what is it used for?

• EVISTA 60 mg film tablet contains 60 mg raloxifene hydrochloride.

• EVISTA is available in 28 tablets.

• EVISTA belongs to a group of non-hormone drugs called Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM). EVISTA acts by mimicking some of the beneficial effects of female sex hormone estrogen, which decreases during menopause.

How to use EVISTA?

• Your doctor will tell you how long your treatment with EVISTA will take and at what dose, how many tablets you should take. Because of the nature of the disease, EVISTA is planned as a long-term treatment. Always follow your doctor's recommendations exactly.

• The recommended dose for EVISTA is 60 mg EVISTA tablet once a day orally.

Application route and method

• EVISTA tablets can be taken on an empty or full stomach at any time of the day. It will help you take the same time every day to not forget to take your medicine.

• EVISTA tablets are taken orally. Swallow the tablets as a whole, you can take with a glass of water if you want.

• Your doctor may also recommend that you take vitamin D and calcium.

Special use cases

EVISTA should not be used in patients with severe renal impairment.

EVISTA should be used with caution in mild to moderate renal impairment.

Liver failure:

EVISTA should not be used in patients with hepatic impairment.

If you use more EVISTA than you should

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist if you have used more than you should use from EVISTA.

If you forgot to use EVISTA

continue as normal.

Do not take a double dose to balance the forgotten dose.

Possible effects when treatment with EVISTA is discontinued

What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, people who are sensitive to substances contained in EVISTA may have side effects.

Very common side effects (more than 1 in 10 patients):

• Hot flashes (caused by vessel enlargement)

• Cold symptoms

Common side effects (1 to 10 in 100 patients):

• Leg contractions (cramps)

• Swelling of hands, feet and legs (peripheral edema)

• Gallbladder stone

Uncommon side effects (1 to 10 per 1000 patients):

• Increased risk of blood clot formation in the legs (deep vein thrombosis)

• Increased risk of blood clot formation in the lungs (pulmonary embolism)

• Increased risk of blood clot formation in eyes (retinal vein thrombosis)

• Pain and redness of the skin around the vein (superficial vein thrombophlebitis)

Rare side effects (less than 1 in 10,000 patients):

• Rash

• Digestive disorders such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and stomach ailments

• Increase in blood pressure

• Decrease in the number of blood clotting cells (Platelets)

• Blood clot formation in an artery (eg paralysis)

• Migraine and other headaches

• Symptoms such as pain in the breast, growth, tenderness

In some rare cases, an increase in liver enzymes may be seen during EVISTA use.
